When it comes time to get a quote for auto insurance, you could contact each company separately. You can typically reach insurance agents by telephone or online at a company website. If you would like to save some time, you might want to visit one of the comparison sites to get multiple quotes all at one time.
We visited three sites that offer comparison rates for multiple companies. All of the sites asked for general information about drivers, current insurance coverage, driving record and personal information. Some sites wanted general credit information. None of the sites asked for a social security number or a license number.

At the time of our visit for this review, this website was offering quotes for four major carriers. It is possible to access each individual company to receive a quote. It takes about 6 or 7 minutes to enter vehicle and personal information for each company. The comparison feature was not working when we first visited the site, but each company offered a call back or contact by email for a quote. We tried again and received quotes from 3 companies in only 8 minutes. It was easy to navigate the website and very quick overall. If you are seriously looking for auto insurance, the site provided three quotes with a small amount of effort. Of the three sites visited, this one was most efficient.

On this site, it only took 3 minutes to answer all of the questions before five companies popped up with "quote links." Two of the companies provided a telephone number to call in order to receive a quote. The other three companies required that you enter your personal information and vehicle information a second time in order to get a quote for your vehicle. Overall, the process was easy to complete in just a few minutes, but it involved entered your information several times in order to get multiple quotes.

It took about four minutes to get the first quote; however, comparing several companies side-by-side required completing individual surveys about personal information and current policy details. It took approximately 12 minutes to complete an individual quote for one of the insurance companies on this site. If you have the time to complete each survey, this site offered the largest number of companies for comparison. -
